His education in engineering helped him to irrigate 900 acres of barren land, which led to the creation of a successful Kauai sugar plantation. The rest, as they say, is history. Be a part of Kauai’s unique history by joining in the celebration of this significant milestone at Grove Farm museum’s old style 150th Anniversary Luau starring Melveen Leed. The luau will be under the full moon on the front lawn of Grove Farm museum on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets for the event are $150 per couple, $75 per person and $25 for children 12 and under. In 1975 she entrusted these sites and their collections to the community as the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Waioli Corporation.
